Outlook Express/Outlook 2000

Note: The configuration looks the same for both Microsoft Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook 2000. You do not need to configure both applications if you are using only one of them for email. For example, if you are using Microsoft Outlook Express for your email, and Microsoft Outlook 2000 for Usenet news reading, then enter only the configuration shown below in Microsoft Outlook Express.

Follow the directions listed below to configure Microsoft Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook 2000.

Once you have Outlook Express/Outlook 2000 open, click Tools in the menu bar and select Accounts.

The Internet Accounts window will open. Click the Mail tab. Highlight your email account and select Properties. If there is no account listed, then click the Add button. You may add as many accounts as necessary and each will be listed within this window.

General: Type a name for the Mail Account, your name in the Name field, and your e-mail address in the E-mail address field.

Servers: Type the incoming and outgoing mail server settings in their respective fields. Enter your username in the Account name field. Then enter your password. Click "My server requires authentication", then click the Apply button. Then click OK.

If you are using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) in Outlook Express, you can find specific setup instructions here.
