Setting up Outlook Express 6
|
|
Step 1. Open
Outlook Express 6. Click on Tools. Then click on Accounts. (If you see
Services instead of Accounts, click on Services.)

|
Step 2. Once in the Accounts window, click on the Mail tab. Click
on Add, and select Mail.
(If you opened Services instead of Accounts from the Tools menu, click
Add after you have opened the window. Then select Internet Mail. Click
OK.)

Step 3. When the Internet Connection Wizard appears, enter your
name. Click on Next.
|
|
Step 4. Next, enter your e-mail address, e.g. username@eticomm.net.
Click on Next.
|
|
Step 5. Enter the incoming (POP3) pop3.eticomm.net and
outgoing (SMTP) mail.eticomm.net mail servers, and then click
on Next.(If you are a Comcast customer, please use the Comcast server
name here and not the ETI server.)

Step 6. Enter your username (not user@eticomm.net) and password
as shown below, and then click Next.
|
|
Step 7. Click Finish to go back to the Accounts window.
With account highlighted click Properties button.
On Servers tab click "My server requires authentication", then click the Apply button. Then click OK.
To
setup additional email accounts, please follow the same steps above
starting from Step 2. If you have no additional email accounts to set
up then you may proceed to configuring the Usenet News Group Server
as follows. If you do not wish to access the Usenet newsgroups, you
may click "Close" at this point to exit the Internet Accounts
screen.

Step 8. Once in the Accounts window, click on the News tab.

|
Step 9.
Click on Add, and select News.
|
|
Step 10.
When the Internet Connection Wizard appears, check to make sure that
your name appears as you wish. Add it or correct it if necessary and
click on Next.

|
Step 11. Enter
or correct your e-mail address. Click next.
|
|
Step 12. Type
the news server name here: new.eticomm.net. Make sure that the check
box labeled "My news server requires me to log on" is not
checked. Click "Next."

|
Step 13. Congratulations,
you have now finished setting up your newsgroup access. Click Finish
to go back to the Accounts window.

|
Step 14.
The news account "news.eticomm.net" should now be visible
in this window. Click "Close."
|
|
Step 15. The
first time you access the news server, Outlook Express will ask you
if you would like to download a list of available newsgroups. Click
"Yes."
|
|
Step 16.
The list of available newsgroups is very long; while the newsgroups
are being added to the list, you will see this screen:

Step 17. When
the list of newgroups is fully loaded, this screen will appear. Scroll
through the list to find newsgroups that interest you.

|
Step 18. When
you find a newsgroup to which you'd like to subscribe, highlight it
by clicking on it one time and then click on the button that says "Subscribe."

|
Step 19. When
you have subscribed to a newsgroup, Outlook Express will mark the name
of the group to make it easier to find when you return to the list.
When you have signed
up for all the newsgroups you are interested in, click on "OK."

|
Step 20. The
first time you use Outlook Express as a newsgroup client you may see
this screen. If you do, uncheck the box and click on "Yes."
You will return to the main Outlook Express screen and your newsgroups
will be available for viewing.
